Exhibiting adidas Iconic Sneaker

The adidas Superstar accompanies us for 50 years. Initially an innovative basketball shoe, it became an icon of pop culture and is now an integral part of fashion history as one of the world's best-selling sneakers.


For the anniversary, we have redesigned our flexible exhibition system implemented last year developed in close cooperation with the adidas team "The Archive". The result is an experiential exhibition that highlights all facets of the superstar and his living history.


The leitmotif of the design is the graphic deconstruction of the shoe. We have isolated the wide laces, the jagged logo stripes and the distinctive toe cap. The strong recognition value of the individual elements underlines the creative power of the original shoe design and proves how a distinctive product can grow from creative, functional forms.


We use these iconic shapes as a frame and background to present the superstar and his connections to human icons from sports and music on large-format artboards. The touchscreens of the interactive applications convey to the user the meaning of the individual element and how they intertwine to define the big picture.


Altogether, the large number of real exhibits embedded in our artwork creates an exhibition that tells a story about design and its impact and conveys knowledge through interaction and fun.
